She cut her teeth as the Lifestyle Editor at Cool Hunt, an international editorial press agency, where she worked with a staff of writers, editors, photographers and interns both domestically and abroad.
Toiling briefly as an in-house public relations specialist for an eco startup, Darrah built relationships with editors, PR houses, artists and celebrities. There she honed her research skills, which continue to provide the foundation for her writing. Then, she did freelance PR/consulting through Stargirl PR.
Darrah has modeled for Los Angeles and NYC-based photographers Christopher Medak, The Toledo Show’s Toledo Diamond, Peter Bolte, and was a spokesmodel for Pro-Girl and Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty.
She has studied voice-over with leading teachers and casting directors Carroll Kimble and Huck Liggett of The Voice Caster. She was the voice of Dream Organics and has done VO work for Gawker Media.
In 2009, Darrah enlisted in celebrity reporting bootcamp, as a staff writer for Hollywood Today, a daily online entertainment newsmagazine published by Jeffrey Jolson-Colburn (of The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone). She now contributes to various leading sites, like, The Rumpus and vegan blog GirlieGirl Army. For over a year, Darrah wrote a monthly editorial column for SuicideGirls, called “Red, White and Femme” about issues affecting women in America.
Twice monthly for a year, she co-hosted SuicideGirls Radio, a two-hour sensual-intellectual talk radio show, on Indie 103.1 FM. Expanding upon her column, “Red, White and Femme”, she covered the frisky side of gender politics and conscious pleasure. At SG, she established herself as a sensuality consultant, working with AskMen.com and The Wing Girl Method’s dating expert Marni Kinrys.
